Anna and I go over the goings-on that occurred with the Caps' Draft picks in the Entry Draft as well as all the Free Agent signings in the past week. Focus will be why the team's #1 pick has a good chance to make a strong impact on the Caps' fortunes in the near future.
We close with some parting words for Braden Holtby, he of The Save which helped bring the Cup to the DMV 2 years ago. Treat him well Vancouver, you've got a good one!
Hopefully it won't take as long for the NHL to decide when to start playing again but until then all of us here at the PPP would like to thank all of our listeners for sticking with us. We promise to be back very very soon wherever there is news about Our Caps.

It hurts to say it, read it or type it but no matter how you look at it there is no more Caps hockey for this season....
Anna and I talk about (at the time of the recording at least) the recent event of Todd Reirden's firing. I go over what went wrong while Anna eloquently grumbles....
We also go over some very big questions/decisions facing our Caps this offseason, however long it may be. Yes Braden Holtby is one of them. No we don't have any idea if he will be back. Yes I have an idea for a backup.....oops....

Well our Caps are on the brink, and nobody here at the PPP is happy about it. And because we're not happy about it, we go on a rant like you cannot believe.
Okay maybe you can believe it but you're probably not going to like a lot of what we say if you're used to us being positive. But we're both longtime fans. And you have your voice too and we're happy to hear any feedback you have. Always. Because we are here for you,

Our first full fledged episode with hockey action begins with a thanks to several of our loyal listeners who helped keep the home fires going during the lull.
We then go into a recap of the Exhibition game against Carolina. Anna and I go over a thorough evaluation both the game and the team's overall performance.
And due to the talents of a certain podcast duo, we may have managed to have invented a new Caps based bar drink. Or have we?

We are back because so, apparently, is NHL hockey. Anna and I share our concerns about hockey under COVID. But before that I share my dedication to another sport that athletes, and in particular hockey players know all about this time of year.
Yeah I'll warn you all now...I'm going to be THAT guy. Not that I'm not glad to have hockey back but the NHL's handling smacks of a government operation. I'll tell you all about it.
Finally Anna and I go over 3 keys (plus one) to the Caps' playoff success. Yes the goalie mix is involved. Yes we talk about Ilya Samsonov. No we don't know how/what his injury is. And we probably never will. Enjoy!

My sincerest apologies for the lateness of this posting...
Recent events have shown that there are things more important than Caps hockey. This podcast episode talks about two of those events. The first of which of course have to do with the racial conflicts touched off by George Floyd's murder. Friend of the show and fellow Caps fan Stewart Small takes the reins and leads both Anna and I in an honest and hopefully thought provoking discussion about race relations and what can be learned from recent events so that there may be a chance they are not repeated. Both Stewart and Anna share very intensely personal stories about their experiences as both witnesses and victims of racism.
In a transitional segment yes, we actually discuss some hockey. Phase 2 of the NHL's Return to Play plan is underway and already the seeds have been planted. Also Anna and I discuss the nomination of Michal Kempny for the Bill Masterton Memorial trophy.
Finally we celebrate the life of fellow Caps fan Frank Kirchner. We honor his memory and his life with this segment as best we can. He was a great fan but an even better man. We wish his loved ones well and offer our deepest condolences to them. The dedication to Frank begins at 1:13:30 of this episode for all of out non hockey friends who knew and loved him.
Hope this isn't too serious of an episode, but it had to be done. One day soon hockey will return to try and provide a bit of relief...
