Show #91---New Year, Same Old Caps?
Monday Jan 07, 2019
Monday Jan 07, 2019
Recorded Jan. 7, 2019
Happy 2019!
Or not.
Anna and I discuss the recent highs and lows of the recent play of Our Washington Capitals. Perhaps more lows than highs, but we break things down in our own way nonetheless.
Two questions are posed that may get to the heart of the Caps' recent problems. One by Anna herself and one sent in by listener Eric Hayes.
Speaking of teams on a roller coaster, we also recap the last 2 weeks of the Hershey Bears' season. Some good some bad.
We hopefully will have an upcoming episode open to listeners to call in and share their thoughts on several topics about the team. More information to come...

Show #90--Merry Christmas 2018!!!
Monday Dec 24, 2018
Monday Dec 24, 2018
Recorded Dec. 24, 2018
Merry Christmas Caps fans!!!
Anna and I continue last year's traditional drunk presentation (sort of) beginning with some background info. We then get into the recap of last week's on-ice action. Once again, Meat Loaf's axiom applies.
We then give our best wishes to the wife of a beloved listener and fellow Caps fan Brian Bigham. His wife Heather is bravely battling breast cancer and we want the Caps fan universe (and beyond) to know about it. Get well soon Heather, we know you will kick cancer's ass!
Next up is the Week 12 Farm report from our Chocolate Soldiers from up north. They unfortunately were not as successful in their three games.
Finally we end 2018 with a one-of-a-kind poetic recap of the team starting with the regular season opener. Hope you enjoy!
We at the Powerplay Point Podcast wish you the happiest and safe Holiday season! Best wishes for 2019!!
Hi Stephanie!!! :) :)

Show #89---Hat Tricks and Nikki from the Big Stick
Tuesday Dec 18, 2018
Tuesday Dec 18, 2018
Recorded Dec. 17, 2018
Twas the week before Christmas and all through Anna's class...no students were stirring because the CAPS ARE STILL KICKING ASS!!!
Anna and I go through yet another awesome week that was for Our Caps. Three games played and all 3 in the win column. We go over in (somewhat) detailed and (definitely) entertaining fashion how those six points were gloriously obtained.
Anna poses a query seriously worth pondering about a recently returned Caps star player. Consider this....a Teachable Moment.
We are joined by Nikki, a fellow Caps fan who tends at The Big Stick, where this Friday's charity event for the Homeward Trails Animal shelter will be taking place. She gives all the details on the event plus we give her the fan spotlight so she can tell her story about why she loves this team.
We close the with weekly farm report provided by the research from Don MacLaren. Unfortunately the Bears weren't quite as successful on the ice as their parent club...
Mentioned him in the notes last week but we'd like to thank Elliot Thomas from Swansea, Wales, UK again for his becoming a fan of the show.
Diolch!

Show #88--Bumpy Roads Take Me Home
Tuesday Dec 11, 2018
Tuesday Dec 11, 2018
Recorded Dec. 10, 2018
Anna gets her angry on (only a little of this is my fault I promise!) obviously due to recent events. We go over the most recent western road trip. Spoiler alert, the results resemble a Meat Loaf song.
Our weekly farm report from the Bears is next courtesy of Don Mclaren. The roller coaster season for them continues.
We wrap up this week's show with another set of our Holiday Shoutouts to some of our loyal listeners. Some of them are also feeling the burn from the week's misadventures and are none too shy about sharing their feelings on it!
Be sure to catch Anna for #CapsTalk every Monday evening live at 7 pm on the Sports on the Hill Podcast via TRURadio. Robbie Gross and Carroll Porter III have the latest goods on the Redskins, Wizards, Mystics, Valor (and of course the Caps!) and so much more!
Please visit our show's Facebook page and become a member today to receive updates about the show as well as breaking Caps' news. Elliot Thomas did, all the way from Swansea, Wales UK!
Wanted to end this week's notes with another reminder to please donate to the Marine Corps Toys for Tots campaign. In memory of Rebekka Thomas.

Thus endeth the winning streak. With a thud.
Anna and I recap the latest week's on-ice doings by Our Washington Capitals. We talk about what went right...and, sadly, what went wrong in the loss in Sunday's game against Anaheim. (Might want to start calling them Anna-heim since she was in attendance and the Caps lost? ;)
We conclude this episode's ramblings and grumbles with the first of our Holiday Shoutouts beginning with a few of our loyal listeners. Including one who's had a tough go of it recently but we know he'll bounce back!
Happy Hanukkah to our Jewish listeners!

Show #86---Back to Winning
Tuesday Nov 27, 2018
Tuesday Nov 27, 2018
Recorded Nov. 26, 2018
It's called a winning streak. It's happened before. And it's happening now for Our Washington Capitals.
Anna and I go over this past glorious week that was for the team. SPOILER ALERT---we discuss at length and with some detail the player with the most impact (yes literally and figuratively) on the ice...Tom Wilson.
You were expecting Alex Chiasson?
Anna poses an interesting question about the success of the team which merits some debate. Can the Caps keep this thing going while Lord knows how long two of its top stars will be out?
Our customary farm report from Don comes next. Another up and down week for the Bears it seems. Tune in for a bit of a twist in this week's report involving a certain already mentioned player and his girlfriend who has athletic creds of her own.
We close with a shout to Sonia Kendall of the Washington Capitals Hockey Fans Facebook Page who made a keen observation during the week and its meaning. And no, it is not about THIS GUY.
This episode is dedicated to the memory of Rebekka (Bekka) Thomas.
My personal dedication to her begins at 59:45 of this episode. I will apologize in advance for the rambling. Unfortunately we have no word on funeral arrangements or anything of that nature at this time.
To honor her service as a United States Marine, we at the Powerplay Point Podcast ask that you donate to the Toys for Tots campaign.
Bless you Bekka Thomas, you will never be forgotten.

Anna and I recap the past week's on-ice action for Our Washington Capitals...
Welcome Back Tom Wilson! Not that the NHL necessarily wants you back as evidenced by the ridiculous penalty you got in your first game back. First time I've ever seen a penalty for scoring a goal in my many years of watching hockey!
The League's ridiculousness continues on in the rest of the road trip but fear not...it doesn't escape the microscope that is this podcast! The final game of course happened to be against an old friend...entschuldigung leider nicht, Philipp.
We wind up this episode with the most recent Farm Report from listener Don Maclaren, who, in addition to his information has an interesting tie-in to recent Caps events. Stay tuned!
NOTE: Once again I feel the need to apologize for the ongoing audio issues, these will be rectified for next week's episode for sure. Thanks to you the listener for putting up with us!

Our Washington Capitals' home stand ends....with a thud. Home cooking as it turns out is not always good.
Anna and I recap the past week's action winding up the home stand. It is clear that the lines need further adjusting and the Special Teams need a classic butt kicking based on the results of the past few games. A similar approach may be required for my laptop.
The good---Jakub Vrana (teacher's pet) and Travis Boyd seem to have bounced back. So it can be said that the kids are all right. Well some of them anyway.
Speaking of the younger folk, the Farm report features a spotlight on two up and coming players in Hershey that will have new opportunities now that call ups have been made due to recent injuries on the Caps' blueline corps.
Our apologies if the audio quality is not up to par, inquiries are being made to improvements. As always donations are greatly appreciated to assist with equipment upgrades.

Anna and I get back to basics in this episode. As only 2 games were played in the week previous due to the NHL's perpetually perplexing scheduling the recaps will be brief. They will also be entertaining and meaningful. Basically we both agree :0 that there isn't much to worry about and that Our Washington Capitals will eventually find their way back to being much more consistent.
For fans of Anna--there is a major hint drop of a holiday gift she would VERY much be interested in....
Also, be sure to catch her for Caps talk live Mondays at 7 pm on the Sports on the Hill Podcast with Carroll and Robbie.
Tacked on to the end is the Chocolate Soldiers report with information provided by listener Don Mclaren.
Also: a reminder for listeners in the USA to do their civic duty and go out and VOTE!
Last but not least a reminder that November is Hockey Fights Cancer month. Please visit shop.nhl.com for related merchandise, all proceeds going to cancer research.

In this call-in edition of the show Anna and I go over the week that was but not before a heartfelt message about the latest tragedies both here and in Pittsburgh. Our hearts are with the victims in Pittsburgh as well as with Linda Laughlin.
Guests Rashelle Wilcox (who talks about her eventful trip to see the Caps in Vancouver) as well as Fletch (not Chevy Chase) call in to provide their unique perspectives on the Caps. I think you will enjoy what they both have to offer.
NOTE: we were also scheduled to have listener Don Maclaren on with the Hershey report but could not get the content on due to unforeseen circumstances.
Anna-noyance meter: she gets a pass because she's still sick :(
