Anna and I go over yet another winning week of Caps hockey...
But first a reminder to do your part in this Hockey Fights Cancer month. I announce my personal inspiration for the charity. Also, a well deserved bit of recognition for our military veterans on this side of the holiday. Several of our wonderful listeners are singled out for their contribution.
For the hockey we do another deconstruction of the week that was in Caps hockey. It was another three games played resulting in another three wins. It's enough to make most Caps fans' minds explode. Except if you've seen this before and are a slave to hockey history, which I am. I will admit that my happiness has it limits and so I have my doubts on this winning streak or at least its timing.
Anna of course begs to differ. But it's a Caps fan's right to overthink success, no? Sorry if it's a downer for some but you all know where I come from...
Post hockey discussion we tackle a recent news item, sort of. Actually we don't, I just retell the story of the Toronto 228th Battalion, the Northern Fusiliers and how they briefly took the pro hockey world by storm 102 years ago. Who says the military and hockey don't mix?
Let us honor the contributions made by our Service members on this Veterans' Day and Remembrance Day.

This week's episode is dedicated both to a very special young man in Anna's life as well as a historic victory for the DMV. As such our language is, shall I say....Nattily attired? You might need a dry Davey Martinez after we' done!
We begin with the somber duty of reminding all of the annual Hockey Fights Cancer month. Anna relates the story of a recent tragedy involving one of her students that happens to be related to this month's events. His passing will serve as an inspiration throughout the month that we involved in the NHL will use to continue the fight against cancer. On the upside we have an update on Mitch Bates who is one the road to recovery.
It's onward to the hockey---two kick-ass games to cover featuring some usual suspects (Tommy can you hear me?) and some new names as well. Winning sure is contagious ain't it?
One last serious note, if you know someone going through the fight---let them know you're thinking of them.
It does help.
Just doing our bit in this community called hockey fandom.

Welcome Children of the Night!
As I the Boo-Liner OnPoint and our best ghoul Anna celebrate Halloween in our own twisted way...or not.
Our Caps are still far away from Home Sweet Capital One Arena but very much continuing on their winning ways. We recap the results from the first four games including a detailed analysis of the incredible comeback in Vancouver last Friday night.
We close with a plea to our fellow Caps fans to help out another fellow Caps fan in need--Mitch "Beard" Bates. He suffered a truly (no joke) horrific injury recently and will need all the help he can get. Caps PA Announcer Wes Johnson has initiated the call to action, so please donate to Mitch's GoFundMe Page and help him out!

We are back for another week of Caps hockey! I have coaxed the Mermaid out her cove to speak her words of wisdom with us once again...
We begin with a somewhat overdue thank-you to two of our most loyal and awesome listeners--Lisa Desabrais and Eric Hayes. Their kindness and support of the show cannot be overstated. You guys rock!
After that, I take time to scold those who take a "stay in your lane" approach to "other" sports being mentioned alongside the Caps. We are after all a community and anything the Caps support, naturally we at the Powerplay Point Podcast will support also.....well most things anyway.
The Hockey---three games: one agonizing in every way and two others that were hard fought and victorious. Anna and I present our usual custom analysis of what went wrong---and right. More love for Garnet Hathaway from me and some for Radko Gudas from the Mermaid.

Anna and I go over Opening week for Our Washington Capitals. We begin the hockey talk with our second go around for the common leitmotif. This week's theme---Canadian Caps players and their origins. See if you can spot the three players and the common place from whence they came.
Next, an impromptu love fest for one of the newcomers on the team--Garnet Hathaway. His brand of intensity and strong play are a welcome sight in the District.
No stats this week, it's just too darn early. But Anna and I do offer an evaluation of how the team has done overall (hint pretty good) and what needs to improve (SPOILER ALERT--the power play).

Anna and I go over some recent events specifically regarding our resident bad boy...
Happy (belated) birthday to our Captain! Get your bowl of OVI-O's!
I had the pleasure (courtesy of loyal listener Lisa Desabrais) of seeing the first preseason game live at Capital One. Most of the show will cover that opening tilt vs the Blackhawks that took place two nights ago. But not before we plug the services of an all around good guy.
The review continues with an evaluation of the individual efforts. The usual who played good,who played bad, etc. Featuring extended game winning goal commentary.

Hello Caps Fans!
Hope you are all having a great summer. Anna and I return for this special edition albeit under less than ideal circumstances. First we begin by talking about how we've spent our summers. SPOILER ALERT---her story is far better than mine! We then get into the Caps' major off-season moves and our opinions on same.
Finally the last half of the episode is devoted to more recent events. You know what it is--Evgeny Kuznetsov's recent revelation about his cocaine use. No sense sugar coating it here. The both of of us provide our one-of-a-kind honest assessment of the situation as a whole. We're just simply two Washington Capitals fans speaking from our hearts and hope you appreciate it. But it's safe to say we both have #92's best interests at heart.
Only a few weeks 'til training camp and then another 2 weeks 'til puck drop in St. Louis!

It will not be back to back....and it sucks.
Anna and I along with Special Guest Star Christian Levesque, our one and only Consigliere gather together to close the curtain on the season that was 2018-19.
The discussion centers around a question posed by longtime listener Kevin Simmons who helps us ponder what is to be with next year's roster. And as always there's some agreements, some disagreements...and always good discussion. What went right, and what went not so right...
We close (after the sign-off) with messages from several special fans (in order of play: Josh Kirby, Sonia Kendall, Ron Diehl, Lisa Desabrais, and a very special fan who has the last word for 2019).
As was said in a tweet by the Stanley Cup himself and itself to our Captain..."It's not goodbye...it's see you later."
