The Boys are back!!
April begins with a roundtable style discussion featuring four fiercely passionate and knowledgeable fans of Our Washington Capitals. Ron Schronce, Doug Loosararian, Willem Bagchus and first timer Kasey Malone join the discussion now that we have reached the final stretch drive in the 2021-22 season.
Each one has their own unique perspective and knowledge set to offer as together we dissect a few issues of the day with the team. Yes goaltending is one of them dammit.
It runs somewhat long but trust me when I say you don't want to miss this one, lots of great analysis here!
Hit us up at our Facebook page if you want to be a part of a future episode and be a part of one of the best Caps hockey discussions going today!

In our final week's episode of Women's History Month Anna and I welcome popular Twitter Caps fan Fatou Bah of the Black Girl Hockey Club. Fatouh give her opinions on the Caps play this past week, which was literally down and up. Topics discussed include....yes goaltending again but also the trade deadline as well as Braden Holtby's homecoming as well as Nick Backstrom's apples.
This being the last week of the month I share a bit of trivia having to do with women in hockey. (Yes I know it was Elizabeth Graham, not Gardiner that made the history). Thanks to all, ladies and gentlemen for indulging us for this month.

Anna and I go into our third week for Women's History Month. Joining us this week is Amy Rothenberger, fellow Caps fan and co host of the Puck 'Er Up: A Hockey Podcast.
We begin with Amy introducing herself to our audience (I highly recommend her podcast if you are not already familiar) and then we go into our customary recap of the on-ice action. Side topics include the goalie situation, (yes again dammit!) trade deadline possibilities and injuries.
Amy also lends her thoughts on the women's pro game as well her experiences as a fan. Do not miss this episode!
Also be sure to catch Anna for CapsTalk on the Sports on the Hill Podcast Monday nights at 9 pm ET.

Betsy lends her voice with what (mostly) went right in this most recent Western Canada road trip, and also what went wrong and shares her thoughts about the women's game and being a female fan of the Caps.
PROGRAMMING NOTE: Next week we will record Saturday evening March 19th, please contact Anna or myself at our Facebook page.
Don't forget to catch Anna for Caps talk, the opening segment of the Sports on the Hill podcast.

This first show of March brings us to Women's History month and joining me this week to kick it off are Cheryl Anne Forster and Lynn Regert.
It was a much better week on ice for Our Washington Capitals, winning two out of three games. That doesn't necessarily mean all is well however and our guests adeptly point out the bad as well as the good from all three games. Our breakdown of each game includes an evaluation of several players as well as a final answer to the musical question...who should be the #1 goalie?
The final segment is devoted to examining Women's Pro Hockey and how to grow the game. We at the DMV got something of a taste of some of the world's best when the Secret Dream Gap Tour from the PWHPA visited Kettler Complex this weekend.

In our final segment for February 2022 in honor of Black History month the Mermaid and I welcome another longtime Black Washington Capitals fan Lorenzo Robinson. I guarantee you will enjoy his takes on this week's worth of....well, what passed for Caps hockey.
Lorenzo also speaks about his experiences as a VIP package holder and Caps season ticket holder. Like with any story worth hearing, there's a good side and a bad side. Lorenzo tells it all. Do please give this a listen.
Next week begins our celebration of Womens' History Month. Ladies it will be your turn to take the spotlight. Let's hear from you!

The Mermaid and I welcome two longtime Black fans of Our Washington Capitals--Stewart Small and Tyron Waller. Both offer their keen observations with regard to the Caps' play as of late. Tyron in particular attended the Nashville game at the Bridgestone Arena and offers his thoughts and critiques of the game seeing it from a live perspective.
Both guests also offer their thoughts and observations on how to make the game we all love more inclusive to all, especially to African American fans. Tune in for a fun episode that covers a lot of topics!

Hope everyone enjoyed the big game...because what the Caps play was neither big nor a game for the most part. The Mrs. joins me again to go over a mostly grueling and agonizing week of Caps hockey.
Fair warning, there's quite a bit of yelling inspired by libations and a lot of opinions expressed are not all that favorable. Try to enjoy if you're into that sort of thing...

Our Washington Capitals head into the All Star Break with more than a few question marks. Joining me this week to cover the final 2 games before the break is Cheryl Anne Forster, a longtime Caps fan who is a regular attendee of games at CapitalOne including the lone home game this past week against the Oilers.
CFor and I go over all of the good and all of the bad that we saw....happily the week ends with a fun trip to Vegas for our two All Stars Evgeny Kuznetsov and Tom Wilson. Pay attention to her observations, you just might learn something...
Reminder to our African-American listeners--we want YOU to come on and tell your story as a Washington Capitals fan starting next week!

Show #181--The Mermaid Returns! But Have the Caps Stopped the Slide?

Anna returns for this episode after an extended break and doesn't hold back in her opinions on the Caps' recent, uhhh inconsistent play of late. And neither do I. HINT---the language gets a bit foul. Think of milk 2 weeks beyond its sell by date.
The two losses (especially the one I attended) are gone over in painful detail, but with a twist of hope for the future as that's what we're all about here. Anna also puts in her $0.02 about the lineup changes for better or for worse.
Show notes---Anna will be out next week, in her place will be a Special Guest who was with me at the Wednesday game vs the Sharks!
At the time of the recording it had yet to be announced that Evgeny Kuznetsov would be a last minute replacement in the 2022 NHL All Star game. Congrats!
