Anna and I recap the latest week's on-ice doings by Our Washington Capitals.  We talk about what went right...and, sadly, what went wrong in the loss in Sunday's game against Anaheim.  (Might want to start calling them Anna-heim since she was in attendance and the Caps lost? ;)

We conclude this episode's ramblings and grumbles with the first of our Holiday Shoutouts beginning with a few of our loyal listeners.  Including one who's had a tough go of it recently but we know he'll bounce back!

It's called a winning streak.  It's happened before.  And it's happening now for Our Washington Capitals.

Anna and I go over this past glorious week that was for the team. SPOILER ALERT---we discuss at length and with some detail the player with the most impact (yes literally and figuratively) on the ice...Tom Wilson.

Anna poses an interesting question about the success of the team which merits some debate.  Can the Caps keep this thing going while Lord knows how long two of its top stars will be out?

Our customary farm report from Don comes next.  Another up and down week for the Bears it seems. Tune in for a bit of a twist in this week's report involving a certain already mentioned player and his girlfriend who has athletic creds of her own.

We close with a shout to Sonia Kendall of the Washington Capitals Hockey Fans Facebook Page who made a keen observation during the week and its meaning.  And no, it is not about THIS GUY.

This episode is dedicated to the memory of Rebekka (Bekka) Thomas.

Welcome Back Tom Wilson!  Not that the NHL necessarily wants you back as evidenced by the ridiculous penalty you got in your first game back.  First time I've ever seen a penalty for scoring a goal in my many years of watching hockey!

The League's ridiculousness continues on in the rest of the road trip but fear not...it doesn't escape the microscope that is this podcast! The final game of course happened to be against an old friend...entschuldigung leider nicht, Philipp.

We wind up this episode with the most recent Farm Report from listener Don Maclaren, who, in addition to his information has an interesting tie-in to recent Caps events.  Stay tuned!

Show #84---Difficulties of All Kinds

Our Washington Capitals' home stand ends....with a thud.  Home cooking as it turns out is not always good.

Anna and I recap the past week's action winding up the home stand. It is clear that the lines need further adjusting and the Special Teams need a classic butt kicking based on the results of the past few games.  A similar approach may be required for my laptop.

The good---Jakub Vrana (teacher's pet) and Travis Boyd seem to have bounced back.  So it can be said that the kids are all right.  Well some of them anyway.

Speaking of the younger folk, the Farm report features a spotlight on two up and coming players in Hershey that will have new opportunities now that call ups have been made due to recent injuries on the Caps' blueline corps.

Anna and I get back to basics in this episode.  As only 2 games were played in the week previous due to the NHL's perpetually perplexing scheduling the recaps will be brief.  They will also be entertaining and meaningful.  Basically we both agree :0  that there isn't much to worry about and that Our Washington Capitals will eventually find their way back to being much more consistent.

Anna and I are each under the weather so our apologies...

Thanks to all who gave their time to answer our call to send reviews to Apple Podcasts as we are now 9 reviews strong all at 5.0!

Anna and I tried to keep this short given our health issues....and you see how well THAT worked out.  We go over the ins and outs of the three games played and focus on a few players who may or may not be deserving of ice time (spoiler alert if you like Bingo, 79 is good, 65 not so much).

Thanks to listener Don Maclaren we stumble into our first attempt to cover how things are going in Chocolate Town. Don was gracious enough to provide his report from the last several games' worth of action from the Bears...due to time constraints however I'm not sure we did it justice.  But we do hope to make it a regular part of the show.

But first we discuss what was a disastrous (not for me) and disappointing (again not for me) visit to see Lord Stanley's Cup in good old Hershey, PA. OK so for me there was some bad and even ugly....but not where it mattered most.

But not being one to need pity, she only needs the positive energy as we at the PPP can provide...so let's show her that real Caps fans stick together!

 

 

Washington Capitals Season's Eve 2018-19

Our Washington Capitals are about to begin their 45th season...as the DEFENDING STANLEY CUP CHAMPIONS!

Before we get into our hopes for 2019 however Anna and I are forced to discuss recent events.  The one concerning a certain player who wears #43. The tone of this discussion just might surprise you. The hell with that---it WILL surprise you.

In addition we talk about other issues facing the team over the course of the season. There is also the matter of the final roster, which has some new additions including one that will make fans yodel.  (No we don't discuss Dimirij Jaskin, that's for next week)

To end our first episode for 2018-19 we issue an invite to any and all listeners to the upcoming appearance of Stanley himself in Hershey this coming Sunday Oct. 7th...hope to see you there!
